You're no ordinary agent. You know your clients by name, not by address. Their move is as important to you as it is to them and you treat each one with the care and attention they deserve. Hand holding isn't a chore - it's the reason clients choose to work with you.

Agents of Change is no ordinary brokerage. You won't work for us directly and you don't need to change your office address. But if you're exceptional at what you do, we'd like to consider you to receive well-qualified referrals in your area.

The real estate agents in our network work for leading local real estate brokerages. Only the best have earned the status of Agent Partner after passing through our rigorous screening and interviewing process. Regardless of your geographic location, if you're one of our Agent Partners you'll be amongst the best and brightest in the profession.

A typical industry referral fee has you paying 25% to 35% of your commission to the referrer. We're not typical. For the privilege of each referral you'll be required to pay us a 30% referral fee. But here's the cool part: we allow your new client to direct half of it to their favourite not-for-profit organization. That's right - 15% of your commission is directed to the client's not-for-profit organization of choice. Agents of Change retains the remaining 15% to continue funding this pioneering social purpose business.

In addition to ensuring you're in good standing with your local real estate board, our interviewing process involves the completion of a detailed application, a review of your online presence, and an interview so we can get to know you a bit better. We'll also be checking a few references, including your broker and at least one client. Sound intense? It is. Our Client Partners deserve nothing less.

Some answers to questions we're often asked

You're located in Calgary, but I'm not even located in the same province. Can I still become an Agent Partner?

Absolutely! While we are based out of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, we can refer business anywhere. It is true that we have many connections in Calgary, so for awhile at least the majority of our referrals will probably be to Agent Partners in the Calgary area. However, people have friends and family around the globe, so we're working to build an international network of Agent Partners. We'd love to hear from you!

I consider myself to be an excellent agent. I'm not a top producer, but I take pride in doing a great job for every client. Is it worth applying?

Yes! It isn't about the quantity of transactions, but the quality of your interactions. Being a top producer does not guarantee that you're a great agent. On the contrary, it can mean you no longer have the time to provide clients with an extraordinary level of service.

We're looking for a unique combination of qualities, such as reliability, helping disposition, dedication and initiative. You need to be an experienced real estate professional, but not necessarily the busiest. We're more interested in making sure you have the necessary skills, a caring attitude, and will work hard for the Client Partners (home buyers and sellers) that we refer to you. There's a lot riding on it.

Do I get a tax receipt for the 15% of my commission that goes to the not-for-profit organization?

No. Actually, no tax receipt is issued to anyone through this program. We're not tax experts, but our accountants are. We had them prepare a tax opinion on how not-for-profit organizations must treat this income. If you're interested in the tax treatment, you might find this interesting. What if I don't have a Website?

Unfortunately, we need to view your Website to get a sense of your practice. It is also important for Client Partners (home buyers and sellers) to whom we may refer you. These days, we believe this is one of the tools necessary to communicate your professionalism. We hope you'll consider creating a Website, not only so we can work together, but also as a way to contribute to your own success.

If I become an Agent Partner, how many referrals can I expect?

It depends. For now, most of our business is centred in Calgary, Alberta, Canada; but that won't always be the case. We have no idea how Agents of Change will grow! We just know that when we need someone where you live and work, we'll be grateful we have you in our network!

What commitment is required of me if I become an Agent Partner?

No specific commitment is required. If you decide you are no longer interested in referrals, we'd appreciate hearing from you so we can keep our database up-to-date. Of course, we also expect you to keep being amazing and continue to be an exceptional agent!

I'm a real estate professional in Calgary. Can I come to work for Agents of Change instead of my current brokerage?

No. Although we are a real estate brokerage, we do not have any agents working for us directly. Our business model is a little different, as you've probably already gathered! We employ what's known as an over-the-top strategy. That means we go over the top of the current industry structure to pass referrals to incredible real estate professionals regardless of their brokerage affiliation.

There are many well-run brokerages in Calgary. If you are considering a change, we know you have a great selection of terrific offices. Good luck!

Will my current clients know that I might receive referrals from Agents of Change? I'm worried it may create an expectation among my existing clients.

No. While we feel passionately that you should be proud of your association with Agents of Change, we understand that you do not wish to pay a referral fee of 30% on every real estate transaction you do. We totally get that. We do not publish a list of our Agent Partners.

It is unlikely that your current clients will become aware of your association with Agents of Change unless you choose to tell them. Directing 15% of your commission to a cause that is meaningful to a client is a good deed to be celebrated, but you can choose to do that quietly if you wish.
